John Hindle is a professional speaker, coach and author. He has a passion for life that is contagious and invigorating.
John grew up in Winnipeg, Canada where his lifetime involvement with amateur sports as a participant, coach, and administrator helped provide an important focus in his life. His success on the baseball diamond led to his induction into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004.
John has achieved considerable success in business. He started a sporting goods business in the garage of his home selling high-quality baseballs and pitching machines. The company prospered and evolved into Home Run Sports – now one of the largest independent sporting goods stores in the country. Through Home Run Sports, John was responsible for bringing unique products to the Canadian market, including BlastBall. This introductory level game for youth has served to promote and foster baseball and softball throughout the country.
In 1994, John became the original General Manager of the Winnipeg Goldeyes Professional Baseball Club. During his tenure with the Goldeyes, the team made the play-offs all eight years, set numerous attendance records, and John was twice named Northern League General Manager of the Year. During a time when professional baseball teams were disappearing from the Canadian landscape, the Winnipeg Goldeyes franchise was the exception. John’s passion for the job was obvious to everyone who met him and his hands-on approach won him the respect of his colleagues and the Goldeyes’ many supporters.
John took a position as the General Manager of the Sioux Falls Canaries Baseball Club in South Dakota in 2004. That powerful learning experience gave him a broader perspective and a unique understanding of business on both sides of the border.
John released his first book in October 2006. Jackrabbits in the Outfield is an enjoyable read which shares John’s philosophies in business and is filled with amusing anecdotes from his time managing professional baseball. The book received international acclaim in 2007 when it won an Independent Book Publishing Award in New York City.
John is currently the president-elect of the Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers (CAPS). His warm and engaging keynote speeches and valued half-day seminars have inspired audiences as he takes them on a fun and motivating journey to become better “Contact Hitters!”
